
Not many people can say they’ve been in a flight simulator, met with the CEOs of huge multinational corporations and visited sacred mosques – all within a 10-day period.
But that’s exactly what 20 McGill students and one brave professor did while touring Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates at the end of February.
“It’s kind of like New York on steroids over there,” joked Karl Moore, associate professor of McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management. “Dubai is just so fascinating, the energy there is incredible, it’s like downtown Montreal 20 times over.”
The 10-day-trip was part of McGill’s 5 Hot Cities of the World Tour, an initiative that was spearheaded by Moore last year. The program takes carefully selected business students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels to economically diverse and booming cities.
“Many of the students haven’t travelled to that part of the world before,” Moore said. “They were able to experience how business is different over there by meeting with high profile figures and touring companies.” [Read more]
