
LONDON (MarketWatch) — In a sign that the aerospace industry may be turning a corner, Dubai-based airline Emirates on Tuesday placed the biggest-ever order for Airbus’ A380 superjumbo, committing to 32 more, at a total list price of $11.5 billion.
Emirates, the Middle East’s biggest and fasted-growing airline, was already the A380’s top customer, with 58 on order, but Airbus CEO Tom Enders called the unexpected expansion of the order a “vote of confidence.”
Following the delivery of its first A380 in July 2008, Emirates operates 10 aircraft on eight international destinations including London, Toronto and Paris. [Read More]
