
ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Saif al-Awani and flydubai Chief Executive Ghaith al-Ghaith reached Karachi by the inaugural flydubai, the first low cast airline, flight on Monday morning.
They had candid exchange of views with passengers on board the flight. The flydubai is Dubai’s first low cost airline and launched in Karachi as its 20th destination. The distinguished personalities were received at arrival by UAE Deputy Consul Bakheet Ateeq al-Rumaithi, officials of the Civil Aviation Department, security officer at the airport and personnel of flydubai office in Karachi.
In a statement, al-Ghaith said: “We are delighted to start flights to Karachi today. It’s a very important route for us and one we are looking forward to operating successfully for a long time to come”.
He explained flydubai’s aim was to make travel a little less complex, a little less stressful and a little less expensive and thereby encourage more people to travel more often. “We are committed to growing the markets we fly to and we have already seen success with this in other markets, including Beirut, which has seen a 33 percent increase in traffic, Amman which gained a huge 40 percent increase, and there has been a 22 percent increase across all Egyptian routes since flydubai started operations last year”.
FZ333 departs Dubai from Sunday to Thursday at 0815hrs and arrives in Karachi at 1125hrs. The return flight, FZ334, will leave at 1210hrs arriving in Dubai at 1320hrs local time. On Fridays and Saturdays FZ333 will depart Dubai at 1135hrs and arrive in Karachi at 1445hrs. The return flight, FZ334, will leave at 1530hrs and arrive in Dubai at 1640hrs local time.
One-way fares to Karachi from Dubai will cost from AED300, and will be available for purchase from the website www.flydubai.com. The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying only for the services they want to receive. The price includes all taxes and one piece of hand. The flydubai operates from a modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
Established in March 2008, flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, started operations on June 1, 2009. Set up by the government of Dubai, flydubai is aimed at making travel a little less complex, a little less stressful and a little less expensive. The flydubai currently has a fleet comprising nine brand new Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft and operates to 20 destinations.
